Lincoln’s Hazardous Waste Center north of 48th and Superior will now be open on Fridays beginning November 7. HazToGo is a safe, environmentally responsible, drive-through household hazardous waste collection site. It is available to Lincoln and Lancaster County residents at no cost.

“HazToGo accepts items like pesticides, lawn and garden chemicals, household cleaning products, paint thinners, stains, polishes and waxes, turpentine, oil-based paint, pool cleaning chemicals, flea and tick powders, rodent poison and old gasoline,”  says Environmental Health Specialist Amy Dirks.

She says the also accept brake or power steering fluids and items containing mercury such as CFLs and thermometers. HazToGo now accepts vape products.  Dirks says hours of operation will no be Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m to 1 p.m.

Dirks says around 3,500 households and small businesses throughout Lancaster County participate in HazToGo annually.  “Just over 130,000 pounds of household hazardous waste was diverted from Lincoln’s Bluff Road Landfill in 2024-2025.”
