Lincoln business owner and community leader Bryan Seck has announced his campaign for Lancaster County Commissioner in District 3, running as an Independent.
Seck, who serves as Executive Director of Lincoln Literacy, said his campaign will focus on community safety, fiscal responsibility, and responsible growth. “I’m a husband, father, business owner, and neighbor,” Seck said. “I want my daughter to grow up in a place that looks forward, plans ahead, and continues to grow.”
District 3 is currently represented by Matt Schulte, the board’s lone Republican. Board members are elected to serve for 4-year terms and are not subject to term limits.
A longtime advocate for workforce development, Seck previously worked as Chief of Talent Management at Kawasaki and Director of Workforce Development at the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, where he helped attract and retain businesses and strengthen Lincoln’s economy.
Seck said his top priorities include investing in infrastructure, supporting law enforcement, maintaining low taxes, and promoting transparency in county government. “We need leaders who are untethered to the ideas of one party and instead focused on pro-business, low-tax, safe, and maintained streets and bridges,” he said.
Endorsements for Seck’s campaign include State Sen. Jason Prokop, County Commissioners Sean Flowerday, Chelsea Johnson, and Rick Vest, former Mayor of Hickman Doug Hanson, former Lincoln Chamber President Wendy Birdsall, and several Lincoln business leaders including Marc LeBaron (Lincoln Industries), Diane Temme Stinton (TMCO), and Bryan Slone (Nebraska Chamber of Commerce).
