Crews began hanging Lincoln’s holiday lights this week, hoisting wreaths, ornaments, and strings of bulbs high above downtown streets ahead of the holiday season.

Aaron King, a subcontractor with the holiday and permanent lighting service Blingle, said his crew is responsible for installing the “12 Days of Christmas” display on the Union Bank & Trust building.

“We’re using two cranes, probably roughly 130 to 150 foot. We’ll work our way down and should be able to knock it out in six or seven hours,” King said.

The holiday setup includes familiar favorites, including the lighted tree over O Street, ornaments on the Education Center, a large wreath on the U.S. Bank building, candles at the Cornhusker Marriott, and wrapped trees throughout Town Square.

King said his team looks forward to the work each year, especially when the weather cooperates.
