Pillen Calls on State Senator Accused of Groping Woman To Resign

By Tom Stanton Nov 4, 2025 | 8:40 AM

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen on Monday called for the resignation of state senator Dan McKeon after he was cited last week for inappropriately touching a woman.  McKeon is accused of touching a woman’s buttocks at a lawmakers’ end-of-session party at the Lincoln Country Club last spring.

McKeon was cited for public indecency. “I called the senator on Friday evening and asked for his resignation,” Pillen said at a Monday afternoon news conference.  “This is a serious offense, it’s unacceptable.  He has to resign.”

Pillen says he has not received McKeon’s resignation yet.  McKeon represents the 41st District in central Nebraska.  McKeon’s lawyer, Perry Pirsch, issued a statement to KLIN News late Monday afternoon saying McKeon has no intentions of resigning.  “Senator McKeon is a devoted husband, father of four, a proud Christian, coach, farming consultant, and a public servant of the highest integrity who has never engaged in any activity that could constitute ‘public indecency’ or wrongdoing of that nature”

Pirsch says the claims are intentionally false or misguided and will be met with a full legal defense.  He says McKeon “remains focused on serving Nebraskans, farmers, families, faith-based communities and on continuing to speak truth to power.”
