Fire Causes $100,000 Damage to Lincoln House

By Tom Stanton Nov 3, 2025 | 12:56 PM

Fire heavily damaged a home near 25th and L Street around 1:45 Sunday afternoon. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says neighbors reported smoke coming from several windows of the house and crews initially had trouble finding the source of the fire.

“The did eventually find the fire in the basement, which was in a chimney in the middle of the house.”   She says it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.  Lierman says the fire caused about $100,000 in damage and no one was home at the time.

The Red Cross assisted the resident with relocating and investigators have yet to determine what started the fire.  LFR is reminding residents to have their chimney’s inspected and cleaned each year to eliminate built-up creosote and other debris that can spark fires.
