(Nebraska Examiner‘s ) – State Senator Dan McKeon has been cited for misdemeanor “public indecency” related to an alleged incident at a post-legislative session party.
According to reporting from the Nebraska Examiner, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol say a woman reported that McKeon “made inappropriate contact with her buttocks with his hand, over the top of her clothing” on May 29 at the Lincoln Country Club.
A citation has been issued for a Class II misdemeanor and the matter has been forwarded to the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office.
McKeon, a republican from Amherst elected in 2024 and serving his first term, did not respond to requests from the Examiner for comment. He is scheduled to appear in Lancaster County Court on Dec. 10.
State Sen. Megan Hunt of Omaha had previously commented on this incident, indirectly, on social media in response to unrelated criticism, saying the Legislature does not “have an ‘ethics committee,’ and if we did, my colleague who grabbed a staffers ass at an event a few months ago would have resigned already.”

In response to this report from the Examiner, Hunt commented “Elected office is a public trust, not a shield for misconduct, and the Legislature must also [be] accountable for sweeping it under the rug. McKeon should have resigned from this office, which I never observed him to represent with dignity or professionalism, long ago.”
As of Friday, no resignation letters had been received by the legislative or executive offices that would expect them.
