Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) will host an open house Thursday, November 13, to discuss proposed transportation improvements along Randolph Street between Capitol Parkway and South 40th Street.

The event runs 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Antelope Park Enclosed Shelter, 1650 Memorial Drive. Attendees can view design displays and speak with City staff and project engineers.

“The proposed project would preserve and extend the service life of Randolph Street and enhance driver and pedestrian safety,” said Liz Elliott, LTU Director. “The need for this project is based on the street’s declining condition and aging traffic signals.”

Proposed improvements include:

  • Widening the roadway to meet current lane-width standards
  • Reconstructing curb, gutter, and damaged pavement sections
  • Adding compact single-lane roundabouts at South 33rd and South 40th Streets
  • Rebuilding curb ramps to ADA standards
  • Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at the Billy Wolff Trail and a midblock crossing east of South 36th Street

The $4.5 million project would be funded through local and federal sources, with construction expected to begin as early as spring 2027 and wrap up in spring 2028.
