Lincoln Police Searching for Identity Thief, Dog Park Car Burglar

By Chase Porter Oct 22, 2025 | 5:10 PM

Lincoln Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in two separate cases, one involving a case of identity theft; the other involving two cars broken into at a local dog park.

The first case occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the West Gate Bank branch location near 49th and “O” Street.

LPD Video Forensics Technician Becky Keller says the victim in this case had someone was impersonating him and attempt to withdraw $9,000 in his home equity credit while visiting the bank location.

The banker reported to police that the man trying to pass as the victim was able to answer the majority of the victim’s security questions, but when the suspect presented his ID, it looked suspicious to the banker.

The banker decided to call the victim’s wife for extra identity confirmation, and at that time, the man said he would try another bank and immediately left in a white Hyundai Kona.

Video and photo from the incident are available below.

The second case occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Holmes Lake dog park near Van Dorn Street & S. 70th Street.

Keller says two people reported their vehicles had been broken into. Both of them had their windows broken and their purses stolen. Investigators determined there were no cameras at this location, leaving information on the person responsible limited at the time.

The following day on the September 25, one of the victims informed police she received a call from her bank regarding attempted identity theft. Her bank notified her that a woman pretending to be her called and attempted to access her bank account.

Days later, on September 29, a woman went to an Omaha bank drive thru and attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account. The woman had the victim’s ID, social security card, and debit card – all of which would have been contained in the stolen purse.

Keller said, thankfully, the banker declined the transaction. Security video from the bank shows a white female in a small white Volkswagen SUV responsible for the attempted withdrawal.

Photos from the incident are available below.
