Nebraska middle blocker Andi Jackson earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.
Jackson piled up 10 blocks, an average of 1.67 per set as the Cornhuskers earned their eighth and ninth sweeps in a row over Michigan State and Michigan. She helped NU hold those two opponents to a combined .139 hitting percentage. She added 13 kills with a blistering .706 hitting percentage in the two matches.
Jackson is the first Husker to be named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since Rebekah Allick the first week of the year. In all, Nebraska has earned six conference player of the week honors. The Huskers are back in action Friday at 6 p.m. against Northwestern. Pregame coverage begins at 5 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
