During the month of September Lincoln Police conducted an enforcement project focusing on the downtown area. The project focused on vehicle and pedestrian traffic downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods.
A grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office allowed officers with the LPD Southwest Team and Traffic Enforcement Unit to work overtime on the enforcement
project. LPD’s Erika Thomas says the results don’t include citations written by officers during their normal hours.
During the enforcement campaign, officers made 252 traffic stops and issued 293 citations, including 66 for speeding and 102 for no registration. There were also 25 seatbelt citations issued and 32 for no insurance.
