In an effort to reduce crashes and keep drivers safe, Lincoln Police conducted an enforcement project in August and September that focused on traffic near construction zones in southeast Lincoln.
Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office allowed officers on the LPD Southeast Team and Traffic Enforcement Unit to work overtime on the enforcement project.
“The project was in response to numerous concerns vocalized by the communities in the area.” The results do not include any citations written by officers during their normal hours. Officers made 392 traffic stops and handed out 425 tickets. There were 142 speeding citations issued, along with 121 for no registration.
12 citations were issued to people not buckled up.
