19-Year-Old Motorcyclist Cited Following East Lincoln Crash

By Tom Stanton Oct 15, 2025 | 12:01 PM

A 19-year-old Lincoln man who has a long history with the law is facing a long list of charges after a motorcycle crash at 70th and ‘O’ Street Sunday night. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas Andrew Snide was riding his 2021 Kawasaki Sport bike around 10:15 when he attempted to lane split two vehicles stopped at a red light.

“When the light turned green and they proceeded through the intersection, the bike struck the back of a black 2013 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, then ricocheted and struck a blue 2020 Dodge Challenger, ejecting Snide from the bike, which was totaled,” Thomas says.

Snide was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.  He was released and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for DUI, minor in possession of alcohol, willful reckless driving, driving while revoked, no proof of insurance and no proof of ownership.

Thomas says this was Snide’s 11th contact with law enforcement since turning 18, nearly all for driving-related offenses.  “To everyone who uses Lincoln roads, please remember our streets are not
racetracks,” Thomas says.  “They are shared spaces where one person’s reckless choice can endanger everyone.”

Thomas is urging parents, guardians and community members to talk to their teens and young adults about the real-life consequences of reckless driving, speeding and mixing alcohol with a vehicle.  “Encourage responsibility behind the wheel or on a bike, model safe habits and speak up when you see risky behavior.”
