A nationwide day of protest against President Donald Trump’s leadership style will bring demonstrators back to the Nebraska State Capitol this Saturday, October 18.

Organizers say the “No Kings 2.0 Day of Action” will begin at 10:18 a.m. and is part of a coordinated effort expected to span thousands of events across the country. The movement positions itself as a nonviolent pushback against what it calls “authoritarian actions” by Trump and his allies.

“With No Kings 2.0 we are pushing back against President Trump’s cruel, illegal, and authoritarian actions,” said local organizer Tiffany Burns in a statement. “Our peaceful day of action brings together residents from all walks of life to broadcast this simple message: There are no kings in America.”

The first “No Kings” event in June reportedly drew more than five million participants nationwide, and 2,000 in Lincoln alone. Attendees are being asked to bring clothing and food donations for local aid groups.

Local partners include Stand Up Nebraska and Taco Tuesday Familia, which recently gathered more than 1,000 signatures on an open letter expressing concerns about the current administration’s direction. National partners listed by organizers include the ACLU, SEIU, MoveOn, Human Rights Campaign, and the American Federation of Teachers.

Organizers say participants are trained in de-escalation and will coordinate with local partners to maintain a peaceful environment.
