Lead foot drivers will have to dig deeper into their wallets to cover speeding fines in the City of Lincoln. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says Lincoln Municipal Code has been updated to reflect new state law increasing the fines associated with speeding violations.
She is reminding drivers of these increased fines plus the additional court costs. Here is a breakdown of the speeding fines
- $50 for 1-5 mph over (up from $10)
- $75 for 6-10 mph over (up from $25)
- $125 for 11-15 mph over (up from $75)
- $200 for 16-20 mph over (up from $125)
- $300 for 21-35 mph over (up from $200)
- $400 for 36+ mph over (up from $300)
