Lincoln Police say a couple was found dead inside their home around 10:45 Friday morning and they are investigating it as an apparent murder-suicide. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says officers responded to a check welfare in the area of S. 14th and Sumner Streets.
“During the investigation, officers determined there was an urgent need to go inside the home to make sure both occupants were safe.” Thomas says when they went inside, officers found a 51-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman dead on the floor of a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds.
Their identities are being withheld pending notification of relatives. “Based on the injuries and evidence at the scene, LPD is investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide and does not believe there is an ongoing public safety threat.”
