A motorcycle crash in southeast Lancaster County Tuesday evening seriously injured a 16-year-old boy from Firth. Sheriff Terry Wagner says it happened around 7:00 at 90th and Pella Road. “A Dodge Ram was westbound on Pella Road and collided with an eastbound motorcycle driven by a 15-year-old boy from Sterling.”
Wagner says there was a combine working in a field nearby that created some dust that could have caused some visibility issues. He says the motorcyclist suffered a serious leg injury and credits the farmer in the field for providing care to the young man.
“He applied a tourniquet, which may have saved his leg.” Wagner also credits witnesses and Firth Fire and Rescue for providing aid to the victim. He says the 15-year-old was friving on a school permit and was headed home from football practice at the time of the crash.
