Lincoln Police say 42-year-old Jessarae Beck was found safe around 10:30 pm Thursday night after LPD SWAT entered a home in Northwest Lincoln.  LPD Chief Michon Morrow said investigators identified the location near NW 2nd and Sante Fe Trail.

Morrow said when they made entry there was a heavy presence of natural gas in the house.  “Officers quickly removed Beck and took Christopher Collins into custody and backed out of the house,” Morrow says.

LFR Crews were called in to clear the scene and several neighboring homes were evacuated until the scene was deemed safe.  Morrow says Beck was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

“Tonight would not have been safe as it was for all involved if we did not have our partners with the Nebraska State Patrol and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office who leaned in with their tactical teams as well again to assist us and make an entry. Again, we are just incredibly grateful that we will be able to return Ms. Beck to her family.

Morrow says Collins was Beck’s ex-boyfriend.  She had taken out a protection order against him last month.  Morrow says on Thursday morning LPD went to Collins’ home at 9420 Eagleton Lane  after Beck’s two children showed up looking for their mother.

The LPD SWAT Team was activated and entered Collins’ home shortly after 10:30 a.m. Morrow says. “No one was inside. However, investigators discovered a significant scene that appears there was a struggle, leading investigators to believe Beck may be seriously injured.”

LPD investigators were actively assisting Beck with previous allegations of domestic assault and violation of a protection order involving Collins. Beck was scheduled to meet with investigators at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday but did not arrive.
