Pioneers Park Nature Center to Hold Wild Fall Festival

By Tom Stanton Sep 24, 2025 | 1:40 PM

With the Husker football team having a bye week on Saturday, families will have a chance to explore all things wild at the Pioneers Park Nature Center Wild Fall Festival. “People can go on a guided hike, an exploration in the woodlands or go learn about our wildflowers in the prairie,” says Nature Center Coordinator Jamie Kelley.

She says they will also offer tours of the historic Hudson Cabin and Cunningham School house.  Kelley says visitors will also get to do meet-and-greets with some of their animals throughout the day.

Wagon rides will depart every half hour starting at 1:30 p.m. Each 20-minute ride will tour the prairie and provide a behind-the-scenes view of the bison pasture and grazing area. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the front desk in the Prairie Building.

Visitors are asked to park in the main Nature Center parking lot or the overflow parking lot located east of the Nature Center gates. A portion of the road past the Nature Center gates and the Bison Loop will be closed during the event to accommodate pedestrians.

There will also be a free tree giveaway during the event, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Click here for more details.
