The Lincoln Children’s Museum will be getting a new neighbor on Monday. The Museum’s newest permanent exhibit is called the “Tiny House” and will be opened at 11am during a Lincoln Chamber event.
It’s sponsored by Home Real Estate and Woods Bros Realty and the celebration will feature a realtor-themed “key handoff” ceremony to mark the moment the new tiny house is “sold” to the community’s youngest residents.
“Tiny House is at the heart of our Tiny Town experience, and we cannot wait to see the pets from Zoetis and the babies from Bryan Health find their way into the new home,” says Tara Knuth, CEO of Lincoln Children’s Museum. “With so many opportunities for cross-over play between exhibits, children will discover that their imaginations truly have no boundaries.”
The “Tiny House” is designed for pretend play and interactive learning and children will be able to step into a fully furnished, pint-sized home complete with a kitchen stocked with play food, a build-your-own brick fireplace, a fabric puzzle rug, and a cozy doghouse. Knuth says the exhibit offers endless opportunities for children to role-play, problem-solve, and collaborate with others.
She says there will be a playful “For Sale” sign out front with interchangeable panels that read “For Sale,” “Pending,” or “Sold.” “Just like in the real world, kids can imagine the process of buying, selling, and moving into a new home,” Knuth says.
