Investigators with the Lancaster County Criminal Interdiction Task Force are searching for one suspect after a traffic stop Friday afternoon on Interstate 80.

The stop took place near the weigh station at mile marker 416 around 12:22 pm. After pulling over the vehicle, investigators found approximately 40 pounds of suspected methamphetamine along with a loaded firearm.

The Sheriff’s Office says both occupants fled from the traffic stop on foot, into a wooded area just south of the interstate. Officers secured the area and searched for the driver and passenger using a helicopter, drones, K9 units.

The driver was located and taken into custody a short time later, but officers could not locate the passenger, who remains at large. The at large suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing dark pants and a dark colored jacket with no shoes.

“If seen, please do not approach this individual but contact 911,” said LSO Capt. John Vik tells KLIN News. “Additional information about the party arrested and pending charges will be released next week.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
