Lincoln Unveils World’s First ‘FitBLOCK’ Outdoor Gym at Tierra Park

City of Lincoln

Lincoln is now home to the world’s first FitBLOCK outdoor gym, a state-of-the-art fitness structure designed to bring free, inclusive exercise opportunities to the community.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird, joined by city officials and partners, cut the ribbon Thursday at Tierra Park (2800 Tierra Drive) thanking manufacturer KOMPAN and an anonymous donor for choosing Lincoln as the pilot site.

“This brand new, state-of-the-art outdoor fitness structure will enhance our community members’ quality of life and position Lincoln as a national model for our commitment to health and wellness,” Gaylor Baird said.

The gym features three zones—cardio, strength, and a social corner—and can accommodate up to 28 users at once, including wheelchair-accessible stations.

Lincoln Parks and Rec will launch free circuit fitness classes at the site beginning Sept. 17. Classes will be offered Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., weather permitting.

Parks and Rec Director Maggie Stuckey-Ross said Tierra Park’s central role in the community makes it an ideal site. “Wellness is not one-size-fits-all, and this space is designed to meet people wherever they are on their journey,” she said.

The FitBLOCK pilot is installed at no cost to the city, with equipment provided by KOMPAN and installed by Crouch Recreation and Lincoln Parks and Recreation.
