Lincoln residents will soon be able to receive real-time text updates on major street and utility projects through a new service called TextLNK.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) announced Wednesday that the city is partnering with TextMyGov to offer the free service on a one-year trial beginning in mid-September.

“TextLNK gives people a simple, direct way to stay informed about improvements happening in their neighborhoods and along their daily routes,” said LTU Director Liz Elliott. “This service reflects our commitment to ongoing engagement, transparency, accessibility, and keeping residents connected to the work shaping Lincoln’s future.”

Residents can opt in by texting a project-specific keyword to 91896 and replying “YES” to confirm. They can opt out at any time by texting “STOP.” Current projects available for updates include the O Street improvement project, several 27th Street and 48th Street projects, and improvements on Vine, Van Dorn, 70th, and 33rd streets.

LTU says the alerts will provide schedules, detours, and progress reports. Project keywords and signup details are available at lincoln.ne.gov/TextLNK.
