Lincoln Police have arrested a man who threatened staff at St. Thomas Aquinas Church near 16th and ‘Q’ Street around 8:15 Thursday morning. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says officers were initially called to investigate a trespassing.
“40-year-old Shane Powell of Lincoln had been found sleeping in the building. Church staff said when they asked him to leave the property, he jumped up, began screaming obscenities and threatening to kill them,” Thomas says.
She says Powell left on foot and officers found him a few blocks away. “He was belligerent and threatening toward officers as well,” Thomas says. Powell was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked trespassing, assault by threat or menacing manner and six warrants regarding similar situations.
