The Capital Humane Society will take part in the nationwide Clear the Shelters adoption drive on Saturday, Aug. 23, offering special adoption fees thanks to support from local partners.

Adoption fees for all available animal—including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small pets—will be completely covered by generous community donors. Regular licensing and rabies vaccination fees will still apply for dogs and cats.

The one-day event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pieloch Pet Adoption Center (6500 S. 70th Street). Adoptions will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. A photo ID is required.

“Capital Humane Society is caring for lots of animals right now,” said Executive Director Matt Madcharo in a statement. “With this thoughtful donation, we can give them new homes.”

The Pieloch Pet Adoption Center will be closed the following day, Sunday, Aug. 24.
