In an effort to draw more women into law enforcement careers, Lincoln Police will be holding a “She wears The Badge” recruiting event Tuesday, August 26 at the Southeast Team Station near 70th and Pine Lake Road.
LPD Public Information Manager says the event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 and will include information on the hiring process, a panel Q&A session with female officers and other members of the department, including Chief Michon Morrow.
From 7:30-8:30 Thomas says they will have different stations set up showcasing of CSI, virtual reality, mock physical testing and more from different LPD stations. Thomas says this event is part of their commitment to national 30×30 initiative, which is designed to increase female representation in police recruit classes to 30 percent by 2030.
“We are always looking to reflect our community, while welcoming all nationalities, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds, education and life experience.” Currently 55 of the 362 sworn officers are women, which is 15 percent of the force.
Thomas is encouraging any women who are interested in attending to RSVP by clicking here.
