A Lincoln woman made quite a scene inside St. Elizabeth Hospital early Saturday morning. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says just before 3:30 a.m. officers were called to a disturbance in progress.
“28-year-old Brooke Richard of Lincoln was intoxicated, yelling and threatening to be physical with hospital staff, Thomas says. “She began kicking at people, including the arriving officers, so she was placed in handcuffs.”
Thomas says Richard was later released from handcuffs after agreeing to leave the hospital, but instead began walking the opposite way from the exit. “While placing her under arrest, the suspect began screaming, pulling away and throwing her body around,” Thomas says. Once she was in custody, she was carried to a cruiser by four officers.
“She began kicking again, striking an officer’s shin. Richard was ultimately taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for third degree assault on an officer or health care worker, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.
Thomas says Richard suffered injuries to her face during a fall prior to officer’s contacting her at the hospital.
