16 people died in 15 different crashes in Nebraska in July, according to statistics released by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
5 of 11 vehicle occupants were not using seatbelts. 2 fatalities were on the interstate, 6 on other highways, and 8 on local roads. 3 of the people killed were pedestrians, 2 were motorcyclists, and 2 were on all-terrain vehicles.
So far this year, 117 people have died in traffic crashes compared to 146 during the same period last year. The average number of fatalities from January through July from 2021 to 2024 is 131.
