Lincoln’s nine public pools are in their final days of operation.

Kat Scholl, Public Information Specialist for Lincoln Parks and Recreation, is reminding residents that city pools will close for the season this Sunday, August 10. Daily swim hours for the remaining days are set for 1 to 6 p.m.

Popular programs like family swim nights and adult water fitness classes will continue through the week, with no registration required. Family swim nights run from 6 to 8 p.m. and cost $15 per household. The schedule includes:

  • Wednesday:  Irvingdale and Highlands
  • Thursday:  Ballard
  • Friday:  Arnold Heights and Woods

There is one final Adult water fitness class set for Thursday at Irvingdale, starting at 6:15 p.m. Admission is $4 per person.

While the pools close after August 10, families can still cool off at the free Trago Sprayground, open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day. The sprayground is located in Trago Park at 22nd and U Street.

Scholl said the season has been a success with strong attendance and minimal weather closures. However, she confirmed there will be no “doggy splash” event this year due to the strain it places on pool systems.

“We’ve had a wonderful year with lots of gatherings and very minimal closures,” Scholl said. “We hope everyone gets out and enjoys the final week.”
