Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson was named to the Doak Walker Award watchlist on Tuesday. The award is given to the nation’s top running back each season.

Johnson took control of the starting running back job for the Huskers down the stretch of last season, averaging 78.5 rushing yards per game and 5.8 catches per game after Dana Holgorsen took over as offensive coordinator for the final four games of last season. Against Wisconsin, Johnson notched career highs in both rushing yards (113) and receiving yards (85) as the Huskers clinched bowl eligibility against the Badgers.

The winner of the Doak Walker Awards will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 12, 2024.
