Man Arrested For Stalking Lincoln Woman

By Tom Stanton Jul 7, 2025 | 3:32 PM

Lincoln Police arrested a man after a woman reported he stalked her on two different occasions.  Sergeant Chris Vollmer says the victim called police around noon on Saturday from 21st and ‘P’ Street.

“Officers were called to the area on the report of an open line to 911,” Vollmer says.  “The dispatcher could hear a female in distress with a male’s voice in the background, and utilized available technology to plot their location.”  Vollmer says arriving officers found the woman in a group gesturing for help.

“Officers attempted to contact the man, who resisted those efforts and was taken into custody.” The 23-year-old victim told police she did not know 41-year-old Matthew Hill, but met him on the Fourth of July.  “Hill had approached her at a local business and refused to leave her alone,” Vollmer says. “She was able to lose Hill by running away from him when he entered a service station.”

On Saturday Vollmer says Hill again noticed the woman and refused to leave her alone. “She again attempted to leave but he grabbed her by the arm to prevent her escape.”  She was able to call 911 for help as she pretended to be talking to someone else.

Hill was transported to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for 1st degree false imprisonment, stalking, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and giving false information to an officer.
