Some needy Lincoln families are getting some relief from the summer heat through the Salvation Army’s Fan Drive. Lt. Matt McCarter tells KLIN News through a partnership with Westlake Ace Hardware they received nearly 200 box fans.
“Everyone’s eligible to get them, but we are prioritizing senior citizens, households with small children and individuals with chronic health issues,” says Lt. Matt McCarter. The money for the fans came from Westlake customers, who rounded up their purchases or made a donation at the register from May 19 to June 7.
McCarter says the partnership has been going on for 13 years and has helped hundreds of families beat the summer heat. Fan distribution began Wednesday and will continue into next week.
