Mpouma commits as top player in Class of 2026

By Nate Rohr Jun 30, 2025 | 9:03 PM

Nebraska football’s recruiting frenzy netted its best prospect yet, as four-star offensive lineman Claude Mpouma from Chicago committed to the Huskers over Florida and Auburn Monday. Mpouma takes the top spot in Nebraska’s Class of 2026, hopping over fellow four-star Danny Odem, a cornerback from Florida who committed last week.

Mpouma’s commitment continued a torrid three-week stretch for Nebraska Football in its recruiting for 2026. After having just four commits on June 10, the Huskers end the month with 11 commits, even after weathering one de-commitment. Earlier in the day, New Orleans offensive lineman Leon Noil, Jr., a three-star prospect, pledged his services to the Huskers.

But Mpouma is the best prospect yet. He is a raw talent who was born and grew up in Cameroon, playing soccer and basketball before moving to America as a teenager. That athleticism and footwork, added to his 6-foot-7, 308-pound frame, makes him an intriguing prospect for Matt Rhule and his coaching staff.

Mpouma joins Noil and prior commits Rex Waterman and Hayden Ainsworth as a quartet of offensive linemen committed in the Class of 2026.
