The 15-year-old Lincoln male who’s been receiving treatment for his injuries in connection to a shooting in south Lincoln on June 13 was arrested Friday following his release from the hospital.

Lincoln Police said he was arrested and taken to the Youth Services Center, charged with robbery, use of a weapon to commit a felony, first-degree assault, possession of a stolen firearm, and unlawful possession of a handgun.

Around 5:45 a.m. on June 13, LPD Assistant Chief Jason Stille said officers were called to 11th and Hill streets and found a 14-year-old boy lying in the street.

“It appears he sustained a bullet strike to the buttocks and a calf,” Stille said at the time. “Officers ended up treating the victim and ultimately he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.” Stille says he was in serious condition.

Stille said a private citizens drove the aforementioned 15-year-old boy to a hospital with wounds to the upper body. Those injuries were considered life-threatening. Stille says two guns were found on the ground near the 14-year-old victim, who made the call to 911 to report the shooting.

“14 and 15, you do not expect them to be injured by gunfire. It’s very troubling,” Stille said. Police found at least five shell casings at the scene and there were no reports of any vehicles or homes being struck.
