Two men ended up in jail after Lincoln Police say they injured each other during a fight Thursday night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says officers were sent to the area of 27th and Leighton around 6:45 on a possible stabbing.
He says arriving officers spoke with 22-year-old Colin Haynes and a 48-year-old woman. “Haynes was observed to have a non-life-threatening laceration to his neck.” Vollmer says the injuries came from a man who attacked him with a pocketknife.
Additional officers arrived and found 42-year-old Ronald Stevens. “Stevens also described involvement in an altercation with Haynes,” Vollmer says. “While speaking with Stevens, he was observed to have a laceration on the back of his head requiring treatment at a local hospital.”
Vollmer says his injuries came from being struck with an unknown object. During the investigation officers interviewed witnesses and were able to get review security video from an area building that captured the incident. Vollmer says the video showed both men fighting.
Haynes and Stevens were both taken to the Lancaster County Jail. Stevens was booked for terroristic threats and Haynes for 2nd degree assault.
