A man and his wife were badly injured following a two vehicle crash near Branched Oak Lake Monday afternoon. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin tells KLIN News a teenager and her passenger were eastbound near NW 98th and W. Raymond Road in a Chevy Malibu around 12:30.
“When they got to northwest 98th, they thought that was the way to go to the lake and they turned north,” Houchin says. “She started to turn and decided this was wrong and turned back.” That’s when the Malibu was struck nearly head-on by a westbound Ford Edge.
Houchin says the two teenage girls are okay, but the two people in the Ford Edge were seriously injured. He says the woman had to be extricated by Raymond Fire and Rescue. She and her husband were taken to the hospital. Houchin says the man is in critical, but stable condition and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The woman suffered broken bones but Houchin says she is expected to recover. The investigation is continuing and so far no citations have been issued.
