Nebraska’s largest amateur sports festival will take the national stage this summer as ESPN’s SportsCenter spotlights the Cornhusker State Games during its “50 States in 50 Days” tour.
An ESPN crew will visit Nebraska July 11–13 to film scenes from the Games, which run July 10–20 and include 73 sports at more than 70 venues across the state. The footage will be part of ESPN’s Nebraska segment, highlighting local sports culture.
“We’re very grateful and excited to showcase our event,” said Ashley Kramer, Director of Operations for the Nebraska Sports Council which hosts the event. “Its a little bit surreal. I think our state has a lot to offer with different sporting events. Our event is all ages, all abilities, so it showcases that no matter what age you are, you can still be involved in sports and still be active and focus on your wellness.”
The nationwide SportsCenter tour kicks off June 27, featuring a different state each day for 50 consecutive days. Kramer says Nebraska’s feature will broadcast on ESPN platforms on July 15th.
This is the first time in 20 years that SportsCenter has launched a coast-to-coast tour of this scale. Coverage will appear on SportsCenter, the ESPN app, and the network’s social media channels.
