The Lincoln Police Department has arrested a second man in connection to a shooting in north Lincoln on June 7. Police say 33-year-old Terique Jackson of Lincoln was arrested on active warrants on Saturday and was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
“During the investigation, LPD investigators developed probable cause that Jackson was the person responsible for shooting 32-year-old Cidnei Williams and 41-year-old Anthony Brown, both of Lincoln,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.
Both victims remain hospitalized for treatment of their injuries from multiple gunshot wounds. “Through multiple interviews, investigators determined Jackson was inside a home in the area of 26th and Potter streets with a handgun when he shot Williams and Brown around 10:30 a.m.” Thomas says. “He then left the residence and got into the vehicle of 55-year-old Donald Handy of Lincoln, along with another man.”
Thomas says Jackson laid down on the back floorboard and changed clothes while Handy drove him around the city for several hours, eventually driving to Bowling Lake, where Jackson burned several pieces of clothing.
On Wednesday, while in jail, Jackson was arrested on additional charges for the shooting. Those charges include two counts of first degree assault, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Jackson was also booked for tampering with physical evidence.
Handy remains in the Lancaster County Jail on two counts of accessory to a felony after being arrested on Saturday. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call LPD at 402-441-6000 or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
