Several SE Nebraska Counties Reporting 911 Outages

By Tom Stanton May 29, 2025 | 2:47 PM

The Nebraska Public Service Commission says a fiber cut has resulted in several 911 outages Thursday afternoon in several counties in southeast Nebraska, including Cass and Otoe.  The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that 911 is currently not working, including text messaging.

If you need assistance for immediate emergencies call :

📞 Primary Number: 402-296-9530
📞 Secondary Number: 402-296-6470

“We will notify the public as soon as 911 is functioning again,” the sheriff’s office said in the post. The Otoe County Communications Center’s 911 services are also unavailable due to the damaged line.  This will also affect the non-emergency 402-873-9560 number.

The sheriff’s office said in Facebook post that for non-emergencies call 402-873-9525 until further notice.  911 calls are being rerouted to surrounding communications centers. Your call will be answered. The surrounding agencies will forward your information to the Otoe County Communications Center where the appropriate law enforcement or fire/rescue agency will respond.
