Lincoln residents can help keep needy families cool this summer through the Salvation Army’s Fan Drive. Lt. Paige Heyboer tells KLIN News they are once again teaming up with Westlake Hardware stores.
“To help families who might not have air conditioning or struggle through the heat season, like the elderly or people who just need a little help to cool off.” Heyboer says through June 7 customers can round up their purchase at the register or make a donation.
“Even a few cents here and there adds up pretty fast and can provide relief for someone facing the hot summer heat.” Last year they raised $4,800 and were able to purchase 243 box fans. Westlake will collect the fans and they will be distributed in July.
Priority is given to the elderly and families with small children.
