Lincoln Police say a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy are linked to three separate arson cases.  LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the fire starting spree began on March 27 just after 6:45 p.m. near S. 12th and ‘D’ streets .  LFR ruled that a swing set was set on fire.  The total estimated damage was nearly $6,000 to the two homes and the swing set.

On May 3 officers were dispatched to Lincoln High School around  9:30 p.m. for trash can fires .  “Surveillance video from both scenes showed two boys starting the fires and riding bikes,” Thomas says.

On May 19 LPD investigators interviewed both boys with their parents. “Investigators were able to connect them to a third arson outside an apartment in the area of S. 20th and Randolph streets. Both boys were referred and released to their parents for two 1st degree arsons and one 3rd degree arson.

The investigation is ongoing.
