Man Critically Injured in Rollover Crash Near Branched Oak Lake

By Tom Stanton May 19, 2025 | 1:45 PM

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department says a day of drinking and fishing at several locations in Seward and Lancaster Counties ended in a rollover crash Friday night near Branched Oak Lake that critically injured the driver.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says deputies were called to NW 84th and West Davey Road around 10:45 p.m. He says when they got there the front seat passenger was trapped and the two back seat passengers got out with minor injuries.

“They were traveling on the gravel road between 55 and 65 mph.”  Houchin says the driver, 23-year-old Dillon Kamm of Ulysses, was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to a Lincoln hospital in critical condition.  “Alcohol is believed to be involved in the crash and the big problem was there were no seat belts being worn.”

Houchin says DUI testing was done on Kamm but no citations have been issued yet.  He was was cited for DUI, reckless driving and no seat belt.  He says the 23-year-old woman who was in the front passenger’s seat suffered a broken hand.
