Lincoln Police are issuing an alert to drivers who use 56th Street between Spruce and Van Dorn. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says construction to enhance pavement conditions and infrastructure along that stretch will be ongoing until the fall.
During that time, lane restrictions will be in place along 56th Street and left turns are prohibited. “There are signs alerting drivers, but LPD has received numerous complaints about vehicles violating this restriction,” Thomas says. Officers have been enforcing this violation and have written 25 citations so far.
“If you are attempting to turn left where lanes are restricted, you are likely causing dangerous interruptions in the flow of traffic.” Thomas says officers will issue citations when they see a violation. “Please plan ahead and use an alternate route if you need to turn left in this area.”
