Timmerman pitches Huskers to Friday night win

By Nate Rohr May 9, 2025 | 10:51 PM

Beatrice native Tucker Timmerman was masterful in his debut as Nebraska’s Friday night starter, allowing just one earned run in seven innings pitched as the Huskers defeated Michigan, 3-2, Friday night at Hawks Field in Lincoln.

Timmerman (2-1) missed substantial time after taking a batted ball of his face in the Cornhuskers’ (25-25, 12-13 B1G) win over Vanderbilt in February. But Timmerman came back and gave Nebraska the start to a series that the team has been looking for. He allowed a first inning run to the Wolverines (31-18, 14-11 B1G), but then nothing more.

The Huskers responded with a pair of runs in the second, then one in the sixth to lead, 3-1. After Timmerman was lifted, Michigan pushed across a run in the eighth but drew no closer, and Nebraska held on to win.

Case Sanderson paced the Husker lineup, hitting 3-for-4. Cole Caruso was 1-for-3 to pace Michigan’s bats.

Nebraska will look for the series win over Michigan Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hawks Field. Pregame coverage begins at 1:30 p.m. on KLIN.
