Nebraska softball pitcher Jordy Bahl made history Friday as the first player in Big Ten history to earn conference Pitcher and Player of the Year awards in the same season. Bahl led a contingent of four players honored as All-Big Ten performers by the conference.
Bahl becomes the fourth player to earn conference player and pitcher of the year honors in her career, joining Sara Groenewegen of Minnesota, Nikki Nemitz of Michigan and Sara Griffin of Michigan. But only Bahl captured both honors in the same season. Bahl ranks ninth in the country with a .467 batting average while hitting 19 home runs and notching 59 RBI. In the circle, Bahl is 23-5 with a 1.49 ERA. It’s the third conference pitcher of the year honor Bahl has earned in her career. While at Oklahoma, Bahl was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
Bahl was also named first-team All-Big Ten, and was joined by Nebraska shortstop Ava Kuszak in that honor. Kuszak has hit 19 home runs for the Cornhuskers while starting at shortstop.
Third baseman Samantha Bland and pitcher/outfielder Hannah Camenzind captured second-team All-Big Ten honors.
Nebraska continues play in the Big Ten Tournament Friday at 4 p.m. against sixth-ranked UCLA in a semifinal matchup in West Lafayette, Ind. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 on 105.3 The Bone.
