The Nebraska State Patrol is kicking off the busy summer travel season with its annual “Make It Click” campaign, a national seat belt enforcement and education effort running May 12 through June 1.
The campaign focuses on encouraging safe driving habits, especially seat belt use, during one of the year’s most heavily traveled periods. Troopers across Nebraska will conduct high-visibility patrols, watching for unsafe driving behavior and seat belt violations. Drivers found wearing their seat belts will also receive positive reinforcement.
“With the summer travel season just around the corner, our goal is to create a positive experience for everyone on the road,” said Major Jeff Wilcynski. “That starts with safe driving—and one of the most important habits is buckling up.”
NSP troopers and dispatchers will work overtime throughout the campaign, supported by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office. Motorists who spot dangerous drivers are encouraged to report them by calling *55.
