A crowd estimated at between 8,000-10,000 fans took in the Husker Games, the alternative to the Red/White Spring Game, Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Along with a limited scrimmage involving backup players, fans saw a 7-on-7 flag football game between Midland’s varsity team and the top players from UNL Intramural Leagues, skills competitions involving a large chunk of Nebraska’s roster, culminating with a wing-eating competition.
The flag football game was dominated by Midland, as the Warriors rolled to a 61-0 victory. Amid the scrimmage, there were kicking accuracy contests, quarterback accuracy contests, agility competitions, a bench press contest, a tractor pull and a hands competition, before a dozen or so Huskers and NU coaches tucked into trays of wings to see which part of the team could eat the most.
The event concluded Nebraska’s spring practices. The Huskers will next gather in June to prepare for fall camp 2025.
