19-Year-Old Arrested After 130 mph Pursuit

By Tom Stanton Apr 25, 2025 | 1:36 PM

A high speed chase Thursday night landed a 19-year-old Wahoo man in jail.  Saunders County Sheriff Chris Lichtenberg says it all started around 11:00 p.m. when deputies were called yo Yutan High School for a report of people inside the building.

As deputies were enroute to the call, Lichtenberg says they spotted a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria speeding west on Highway 92 near County Road 14 at 126 miles per hour with red and blue lights in the front window. Lichtenberg says a deputy tried to stop the vehicle,  but the driver refused and continued speeding west on Nebraska 92 and then south on U.S. 77.

The pursuit continued south into Lancaster County to 56th and Cornhusker Highway.  Lichtenberg says the driver then turned east and  speeds reached over 130 mph at times during the pursuit. He says at 98th and Cornhusker one of his deputies was forced to take evasive action to avoid a collision with another vehicle that pulled out in front of him, crossed the median and ended up in the ditch on the westbound lane side of Cornhusker Highway.

The deputy refused treatment at the scene.   A Lancaster County sheriff’s deputy was able to successfully deploy spike strips near that location on the suspect vehicle.  Ashland Police observed the suspect still eastbound on Highway 6 near 238th street and activated their lights when the suspect pulled into a business parking lot.  Isaac Coty was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Cote was booked into the Saunders County jail on numerous offenses, including flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, speeding, displaying red/blue flashing lights, driving left of center, disobeying  a traffic control device, tampering0 with evidence and unlawful p.

His bond has been set at $100,000.  The Saunders County deputy that was involved in the collision refused treatment at the scene.  Lichtenberg says the original call at Yutan High School was unrelated to the pursuit.
