The public is invited to offer feedback to Lincoln Parks and Rec on local baseball and softball amenities, as the department released it’s Ballfield Assessment Report.
Community members are asked to review the findings and share comments through a short online survey. The report and survey are available at lincoln.ne.gov/BallfieldSurvey. The deadline to submit comments is 5 p.m. May 15.
The report offers an evaluation of 37 City baseball and softball fields across Lincoln, including the condition of each field and its surrounding accommodations. The city says feedback on the assessment will help guide future repairs, renovations, maintenance practices, and investment in Lincoln’s public ballfields.
This survey is a component of the Parks and Rec department’s overall ballfield improvement and long-term plans. The final report includes aerial maps, improvement recommendations, and cost estimates for potential upgrades.
“Lincoln’s ballfields bring people together to play, compete, and build community across multiple sports, including baseball, softball, kickball, and flag football. This report helps us plan for the future by identifying where we can make strategic upgrades to keep our fields high-quality and welcoming for all,” said Maggie Stuckey-Ross, Parks and Recreation Director.
City Councilmember Tom Duden allocated funding for the ballfield assessment within the 2024-2026 City budget. The city partnered with Olsson, Inc. and Odeys Field Experts to evaluate each field using a standardized checklist during visits in December 2024 and January 2025.
