The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says three people were killed after the small plane they were on crashed south of Fremont Friday night. Investigators say the plane was traveling along the Platte River when it crashed into the river.
The bodies of the three people have been recovered. The identities of those killed are not being released as investigators try and contact family members. Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Omaha Police helicopter, The Nebraska State Patrol and Waterloo and Valley fire departments.
Air boats and drones were used to search the water. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will take over the investigation at this point.
