A Lincoln man was arrested after the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force spotted a silver 2003 Hyundai Sonata near 14th and Adams Monday night that had stolen license plates . LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says investigators followed the vehicle to a fast food restaurant near 27th and ‘W’ streets.
“Officers contacted the driver as he exited the restaurant and took him into custody on information he was recently selling meth,” Thomas says. “While checking the vehicle to determine if it was stolen, officers observed suspected meth inside the vehicle.”
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered suspected meth, suspected MSM, prescription bottles, along with drug paraphernalia, two knives, bolt cutters and a pry bar.
Officers took 32-year-old Zacharia Hughes to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for possession with intent to deliver a hazardous drug (meth), possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of burglars tools and possession of money while violating drug laws.
